Is God calling you to open your heart and home to foster a child or Adoption?
In 2008 in Washington County alone 1,400 children spent at least 1 day in foster care Right now there is only 1 foster family for every 7 children.
In 2008, ONLY 300 children were adopted from the foster care system, which means 40% of these children will go through their lives with no permanent family.
Where do we go from here?
Here are two options for adopting from our community. If you are interested in adopting you can either go through the state program, which does not cost any money, or through a private organization. Below is the information for the state and Christian Family Adoptions. The adoption process with the state does take quite a bit longer and can take up to 2 years.
Option 1 -
The State (DHS): There are 8 required classes, a background check, and home inspection that must be completed in order to become a certified family that can either foster or adopt. DHE orientation classes are held on the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of every month at the Beaverton Child Welfare office. The class is located in a classroom that has it's own entrance on the courner of the building at:

Option 2 -
Christian Family Adoptions: The adoption orientation meeting is the second Tuesday of every month from 6:30pm to 8:30pm at their Portland office. They will happily make individual appointments during business hours on an as needed basis. To take the class you must register online, call 503-232-1211 or email Rebecca at rebecca@christianfamilyadoptions.org. You are required to complete training, a background check and a home inspection with Christian Family Adoptions before you are able to bring home your child. Their Portland office is located at:
